Do it scared.
During my sophomore year of college, I enrolled in a yoga class for credit, and it quickly became a source of joy with an incredible teacher.
Although I had been practicing yoga since high school, I always considered myself "bad" at it, using it primarily for relaxation.
One day, my teacher sent an email discussing a Yoga Teacher Training program—a 200-hour course that would lead to certification as a yoga teacher.
I found the idea very enticing, and I felt insecure about my ability to teach. Doubts crept in, and I hesitated to take the leap.
Finally, I mustered the courage to respond to my teacher's email, expressing my concerns about my limited flexibility and strength. His response was a simple question: "When would you feel truly ready for something?"
His words struck a chord within me, prompting a realization—I often lack the confidence to feel completely secure when trying something new. The feeling of readiness rarely arrives on its own.
If I constantly waited for that sense of complete readiness, I would never grow or improve myself. I would let self-doubt and anxiety prevail.
So, despite feeling scared and unprepared, I took a leap of faith. I embraced the discomfort and enrolled in the training program. It was challenging, and there were moments of uncertainty, but it turned out to be one of the best decisions I ever made for myself.
I successfully completed the 200-hour training, and today I proudly teach yoga classes at three different gyms.
The lesson I learned is simple: Do it scared. Take action, even when you feel uncomfortable and unsure. It is through these experiences that empowerment and growth naturally follow.
